RURAL COUNTRY Denmark

CHARACTERISTICS

The vision of Vejen Kommune is to be attractive as business-, commercial- and settling municipality and to create framework and opportunities for well-being, quality and growth.

Vejen Kommune is a rural municipality in the middle of South Jutland, Denmark. We are 42683 inhabitants at the beginning of 2013, and the number of inhabitants has slowly increased during the last decade. The area is 814 km2 and more than 97% is rural zones with woods and areas for farming. The main city is Vejen with 9400 inhabitants.

The infrastructure is strong with motorway and railway across the municipality. As broadband connection for the future we now have fibre to the home (FTTH) offered by two local and co-operative electricity providers to almost everybody in our region. Besides we have nature and open space, a variety of local communities, and a level of public services and housing prices which makes it attractive for families to settle here, even if they are commuting for jobs in other places.

Vejen Kommune has been awarded as best municipality in Denmark 2013 for entrepreneurs and starters. We are branding the municipality as 'Denmark's new food industry centre' to attract enterprises from this sector.
