In WP3: optimizing services Vital Rural Area investigates how to optimize the level, quality and accessibility of services and facilities in regional areas using innovative ICT technologies in the field of health care (cure, care and prevention), well-being (financial services, welfare/social services, commercial and mobility services), and leisure opportunities (information and specialised services). Towards more and better accessible services and amenities.

project partners in WP3
- Province of Fryslân, Leeuwarden, NL (chair)
- NOFA, Buitenpost, NL
- Vejen Kommune, Vejen, DK
- Rogaland Fylkeskommune, Stavanger, N
- Finnøy Kommune, Judaberg, N
- Intercommunale Leiedal, Kortrijk, B

main components in WP3,- to fine-tune the needs and preferences of the local population with regard to services and facilities in the field of health care, well-being and leisure opportunities
- to promote new and improved ways of well-being using innovative technologies
example: to develop - together with local users an interactive portal at an open fibre network connecting everybody, as a tool to create better cohesion and quality of life in small rural communities. The portal will be open for local content as well as information from the municipality - to experiment with a number of (innovative) health care concepts in extramural e-care and e-health
example: to organise an experimental pilot to practise with tele-medicine and tele-consulting (medical anamnese, diagnosis and health advice over longer distances), and digital exchange of high resolution medical data
- to monitor the activities, results and impact of the services approach
The experiences and results of the pilot activities within WP3 are used to draft a working standard how to optimize services and facilities. The three working methods of WP1, 2 and 3 will be converted into the rural power pack RPP, a general working method to set up projects on regional development in other regions and in other periods.
